  • Warranty Fraud!

I bought a Gateway computer in July of 09 and it stopped working two monhs later. I can' get Gateway to answer their phones to even talk to me because the laptop I bought from Gateway is supposedly handled by some other company that announced in December of 08 that they were filing bankruptcy! I am not the only customer having problems with this as I found so many other people online looking for answers that nobody will give them from either of these companies. I paid over $700 fr a laptop that worked for less than two months and I want my money back or my computer fixed under the... More...

  • warranty on laptop

I have a four-year in-home warranty that does not expire until 2011. I cannot get the software to reload on the crashed hard drive so I can get up and going again. It was preloaded. My local shop says just to trash the $1700 system bought 1.5 years ago. The Vista programs and Microsoft Office were preloaded. I cannot recover any of them even though Gateway placed the numbers on the case. I AM SICK BECAUSE I AM A WRITER AND LOST 3 BOOKS. I can recover them but will have to buy anew computer. Is this right? MPC does not answer. Gateway now automatically says I have called before when... More...

  • Tablet PC pen

I own a S2700C tablet PC that I no longer use as a tablet, because the pen has died three times, and I've had to buy a new pen every time, even though it was your mistake that causes them to stop working. You didn't check that the manufacturer's estimate of 6 years of serviceable life that you advertised was correct. They used a combination of a steel spring and an aluminum battery that causes the battery terminal in the pen to become corroded and stop functioning after only a couple months of use. I've contacted customer support, and they directed me to buy a $100... More...

  • Terrible Quality Control

I cannot even believe how low the quality control is at Gateway. Tablet PCs are shipped without a Windows repair disk, and files get corrupted seemingly weekly. The tablet pens stop working after about 4 months because they didn't check if the manufacturer used appropriate materials - the steel spring and aluminum battery get so corroded that the pen stops working. My battery won't hold a charge at all anymore, I have to plug it in to use my computer. I don't know what they think quality assurance means, but to me it means never buying another Gateway. More...

  • Upset with MPC & Gateway

Today my NX500X laptop power cord died, my warranty ends Saturday 2/7/09. I looked up my system on Gateway to see my warranty had been sold to MPC. I tried for hours to contact them via telephone to find they have closed/filed Chapter 11. Called Gateway warranty department and sat on hold for 3hrs, 25min before hanging up. I then called Gateway and selected the option to purchase a new computer, someone picked up in less than 10 seconds. (Nice way to treat already existing customers, Gateway) I vented and now am sharing my anger with you all. Looks like I'll start shopping for an... More...

I have had several phones calls to MPC and Gateway trying to get my computer fixed. Gateway is telling me that this problem belongs to MPC and MPC won't even take our call. I have a perfectly good computer that I purchased an extended warranty with and now Gateway won't stand by the warranty. First of all, to anyone that is considering a computer DO NOT buy from Gateway. They are a horrible company with terribly rude customer service personal who will not try to help you. Second, if you a person going through this same situation write back and tell me about your situation. I was... More...

  • Warranty Service

I have tried to contact MPC for the last 3 months for service to my Gateway computer. I puchased the system direct from Gateway and the service contract at that time. MPC hasn't answered their phone calls or emails for the last three plus months. Only recorded messages. No response from emails. I contacted Gateway support and they stated they couldn't do anything it was an MPC problem. I tried the suggested numbers and email contacts given to me by Gateway to contact them, still no results. I received a work order number the first week of October, and haven't had any... More...

  • HORRIBLE!!!!!

In mid July I sent my computer in for service work to repair a defective port that allows my laptop to charge. I sent it from my current address, and within 3 days I had it returned to me and it wasn’t fixed. I called MPC to request that they take my computer again since it was still not holding a charge. In two days they sent a box for the computer, but they sent it to my old address. I retrieved it from my old address and wrote on a form they had enclosed to make sure they sent it to my current address. In addition to that form, I taped a piece of paper to the computer itself,... • MPC/Gateway Horror Story

On 26 March, or there about, we ordered a Laptop computer from MPC/Gateway through Jen's employee purchase program. The order was shown to be in the "booking" stage for quite some time, and a call to the sales rep advised us that the order was on hold for a carrying case that had been ordered to go with the laptop. Jen told them to just cancel the carrying case, and ship the computer. Not long after, we noticed that the order still had not shipped. Another call to the sales rep advised us that there was a problem getting some other parts, but that our order was being... More...

I also have a warranty until 2012 that is no longer good. There are many problems with the machine and when I tried to call for repairs I found out that they filed chapter 11 bankruptcy and shut the doors. We all loose? This is not right...they have to be responsible in some way.

Hi, I had purchased Gateways for years, glad to support a company with a good product and jobs in America.

I ordered 4 pc's in July 08. It's Nov, we still don't have them. No idea of when they will be shipped. I
just cancelled the order and reordered with Dell.

One sales rep. told me that MPC had moved the Nashville factory to Mexico and is having problems.
My attitude is - should have left the factory where it was.

Good luck getting any resolution. MPC laid off almost the entire Support and Engineering team. Customer systems are in the labs, open and waiting to be worked on, with the people who were working on them gone. No one knows what was being done and how to fix them. UPS and FedEx aren't shipping from MPC because the company's not paying the bills. MPC can't get parts because no one will extend them credit. I know, because I was one of those laid off. I'm not disgruntled - I had respect for the company, until I saw what was going on. Very unethical mismanagement.

HORRIBLE! We dealt with Gateway for years and had superb service everytime. It was a pleasure dealing with them. MPC on the otherhand is crap. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. MPC promised us an order of 50+ tablets 4-6 weeks. 6 months later they arrived. We ordered these tablets built to spec. We knew what hardware we needed and we knew we would not be migrating to Vista anytime soon. We did want to be Vista capable for future migration. The biggest peave I have over this order was the Video adapter. MPC used the Radeon X1300 Mobile for the tablet. Cool video adapter but the video card doesn't support screen rotation in XP Tablet edition. How smart is that? So now we are stuck with a possible RMA, futher delays for equipment not built to customer specs.
